Rep. Bryan Sandlin takes oath of office in Olympia

Today during the opening ceremonies of the 2023 Legislature, State Rep. Bryan Sandlin, R-Zillah, officially took the oath of office to represent the citizens of the 15th Legislative District.

“It was a great feeling to be part of the opening ceremony. The swearing-in and being in the Capitol building were humbling,” Sandlin said. “I feel privileged to be serving in the Washington State House of Representatives and I am ready to represent my constituents. I hope they will contact me with any concerns, questions or issues they have with the Legislature or our state government. We are in this together.”

Sandlin will be serving on four committees this session including two fiscal committees, the House Appropriations Committee and the Capital Budget Committee. He will serve as the assistant ranking member on the Capital Budget Committee.

“Serving on two fiscal committees as a freshman is exciting. I look forward to contributing input on our state spending. The spending growth the last decade is unsustainable and I hope we will be working on a more fiscally responsible budget,” said Sandlin. “The capital budget is also about state spending, but it brings taxpayer dollars back to the legislative district for economic growth, job creations, improving our communities and protecting our environment. I look forward to working with the chair and ranking members of this committee in the decision-making process.”

Sandlin will also be serving on the Consumer Protection and Business Committee and the Education Committee.

The 105-day legislative session begins today and runs through April 23.
